1 more meeting then relax



17th February 2018
You don’t need to unscrew another’s lightbulb in order to shine! 



Ooo only 4 different fruit and veg yesterday, that’s not great for someone on a challenge, I did hit my five a day just with the same stuff as the day before.   I bought the salad then didn’t get round to preparing it, I wanted to do some crudité sticks an homemade hummus but the day just got away with me.

I was doing a little research online and did you know it may take 15-20 or more times trying a new food before a child will decide if they like it or not, so continue to expose your child and yourself to a variety of fruits and veggies and you may be find you change your mind. Of course this could work with other foods and drinks too, its day 6 of me eating fruit daily and I’m almost used to the apple thing, I can see me buying another bag when this ones gone.

Day 8 – 17th Feb – Buy flowers for my desk

Today’s defunk challenge is already achieved as my lovely helper bought me daffodils last night and so they will still proud on my desk. Plus, I’ve already bought some hyacinth bulbs and put them on on my desk yesterday, I think maybe I’ll put a floral scentsy wax in my warmer, I love the rugosa rose.

I never got round to eating my pizza because the short use buy date on the other stuff meant I had to have beef, chips and broccoli with gravy for my tea.  I picked at the bbq chicken for lunch.  Must try harder to ensure proper meals today and I will do some crudité’s to dip into something, even if it’s only Greek yogurt with some garlic in.  There are plenty of dip recipes on the Weight Watchers app.


Anyway, it’s Saturday, silly early start, leaving at half 7, so I better get my act together.  Worth it though, there was more success meetings last night, my bestie Vicky got her 10% certificate, she was thrilled, I handed out a lot of certificates last night.  Here’s to doing the same this morning.

Already handing out certificates to this years joiners

Laugh loudly, laugh often and more importantly laugh at yourself.


Woke up sooner than I wanted to this morning, but sleep evaded me so I obviously was meant to be awake, probably a good job because I thought I could smell something and I could, I’d left the slow cooker on low all night – oops!  It survived and looks might fine to be fair, a whole BBQ chicken, thank you Penn Road Butchers.

Another excellent day in meetings yesterday, handed out lots of stone and 5% certificates to people who joined the meeting in January, yeah just over a month to make a difference.  Remember it take 4 weeks for you to notice, 8 weeks for family and friends, 12 weeks for the rest of the world and one 1 moment for you to decide to do it!  I also handed out a couple of 50lb certificates proving if you keep going the results keep happening.

Anyway, I’ve got us a challenge, I have a lovely girl come to my meeting with her mom on a Thursday night and together we’re trying to get a bit healthier, so this week we’ve agreed to make a list of all the different fruit and vegetables we eat and we’re going to try and eat as many different ones as we possibly can.  Do you fancy joining us?  Mine yesterday were;

I can see I’ll be needing to get me some fruit and veg in, maybe eat me a salad or stir fry over the coming week.   Eight’s a good start though and a piece of fruit is progress for me, I’ve eaten a piece every day for 5 days now - progress. 

Water’s the other thing I’m increasing, instead of automatically popping the kettle on, I’ve pouring me a pint of water now and again, it’s all about tweaking the habits and improving my health.

Already on day 7 of my refocus challenge, today’s is;

Day 7 – 16th Feb – Tidy my desk

I started the other day but there’s still more to do, if I get the enthusiasm up I could stretch it to my office but to be honest I want to do my crocheting and the sorting of the drawers can wait!  I could take a drawer at a time outside when the weather warms up and enjoy the sunshine whilst sorting.

BBQ chicken for lunch today then, I think I will nip over the co-op and buy some salad, one of my members last night said when her shopping delivery arrives she chops all her salad up into a big tub and that encourages her to eat it throughout the week and it does keep chopped up longer than you think it would.

I’ve also got some sweet potato fries in the fridge, they were the side from my meal deal, that’ll add to my list of fruits and veggies, ooo chicken and chips with a side salad – sorted. 


Then I have a pizza for my tea that Nat picked me up from Asda, Diane had posted it in our group and Nat knew I’d want one, how great are people that just do stuff and don’t wait to be asked!  Anyway the pizza is 11sp – bargain, Asda Aexta Special hand stretched sunblush tomato and Italian mascarpone pizza.  Apparently the chicken one is 12sp.  I do love a pizza that doesn’t rob me of my entire days allowance.

Right I’m awake now, yawning but awake, listening to Jo Whiley & Liam Gallagher on the radio playback, he’s just hit the nail on the head saying kids has too much stuff, it’s true, we all do, there’s too much stuff, too much choice, less is best in my world these days, less to think about too then.

Okay here’s to another good day, I’m going to go get me some different fruit, I have a tin of mandarin oranges in the cupboard I think, might have a change of breakfast today, fruit and yogurt instead of my dry fry up.   Whatever you’re eating, enjoy it BeYOUtiful, stay healthy and happy.

Defunking day by day



15th February 2018
Always remember to be kind, be fair, be honest, be true and all of these things will come back to you.

Well I was impressed last night, despite it being Valentine’s Day, my members showed up, they may not have all stayed for the meeting talk because they were wining and dining but that’s okay, another 5 stone shed on the scales shows you can indulge and lose weight.  The first two members I weighed last night were convinced they weren’t going to lose weight, one told me she didn’t want me to tell her, just to write it down and she would look when she got home, so when she got on the scales, I said “let me tell you”, she was “No”, I’m teased and she asked “is it really bad, I don’t want to know”, I said “yeah it’s dreadful, you’ve lost a pound!”  Both of them had lost a pound which shows being a little bit bad, when you’re good the rest of the time can balance out.  I loved the line said by the other lady, she said, ‘You’ve done all that walking, made your tache sweat” and that set the premise for the evening, more losers than they expected, which always pleases me!

I had a good day, got carried away in my crochet on the afternoon for a couple of house, need to take that time out for me.  Foodwise, ate the other half of my Frittata from the day before, for lunch I got so engrossed in my crochet the time flew, so when I remembered I cooked some sweet chilli chicken and had it in a wrap, put the rest up for my tea with salad and another couple of wraps, the skinny ones are only 3sp, do the job they do.  I also ate an apple, banana and a few grapes – this healthy is getting serious.

I’m not giving anything up for lent, I’m taking it up, I plan to eat fruit, I intend to eat at least one piece of fruit a day, going to try and form me a new habit.    Ooo today’s defunk challenge is Day 6 – 15th Feb – Get rid of 3 things I never use.  Now that’s gonna take some thought, probably should’ve done that before now, I got rid of so much last year that there’s not much left to loser but there’s still stuff, books are the obvious things, there’s a bed coat someone gave me for mom she’s never worn, that’s sitting in a cupboard screaming charity shop.  Yeah I reckon I can lose more than 3 things this afternoon, I’ll take half hour for a mooch, might even start my self-care basket at the same time.  I like having less in my house it makes tidying up easier, house is still untidy but with less stuff.

When I got home last night there was no heating again, no hot water and the wetroom floor appeared to have all the water out the pipes one it - YAY!  I think a pipe is leaking but I’m not sure, my bro will come after work to sort it I’m sure – happy days.  Good job I’m back in a happy place, yeah I’m back to good again, I’m hoping it’s here to stay and my hormones won’t kick in and mess me up again, until I have a full month of good, I won’t be certain, but yesterday was day 13 on my monthly cycle and that’s usually when my mood drops so fingers crossed, taking care of me by taking time out for me to do the things I like to do, hydrating more, eating fruit, cutting out the crap, cutting down on the bread, eating good meals, oh and as much as I hate to admit it, tidying up my surroundings have all gone towards making my mood lift and me feel better.  Actually on of the things that’s helped me more than anything were a couple of good chats with my bestie and me deciding to do something, to get myself some support and prioritise my self-care.  I don’t need a break, I need to find a way to make my life work as it is now – we all need to do that. 
Right time to get on with today, food wise, I’ve got a whole BBQ chicken that I’m going to throw in the slow cooker I think, I had a couple of sirloin steaks off my butcher man – two for a fiver – you can’t go wrong at that, my Valentine can be Alfie, I’ll share with him, he can have the fat and some of the meat and I’ll have the rest, be nice with egg and chips, mmm could eat that now but I won’t, I’ll settle for egg and mushrooms for breakfast if I have to time, if not I’ll make another frittata to go, busy long day today, need to stay in control.

Oh yesterday’s blog recipe, there was a typo, I’ve amended it now, it was 2 large lemons and 4 eggs, not 2 large eggs and 4 eggs!

Here’s to another great day BeYOUtiful people, take 10 minutes for yourself, no matter how busy you are, I’ll leave this house for work at 7.30 this morning and I won’t finish work and get home until about 8 tonight but I have just took time out to blog, it’s something I enjoy doing, plus I’ll have me half hour at lunch time.  We can fit it all in and if we can’t it doesn’t matter!
