How long does it take to lose this weight?

21st January 2015
May your day be as wonderful as the first sip. (tea not wine, it's morning!)

I do love that first cuppa of the day, for me it's always tea, coffee comes later and usually only if the tea didn't do the wake up job!

"How long did it take you to lose?"  That seems to be everyone's favourite question to another successful Weight Watcher when they've got to goal.  The answer is obviously different for everyone but rule of thumb is with the ProPoints plan you can lose up to 2lb a week, that's the reality of the situation, if you're 100% focused and on track you will get that weight loss success, if you're not it'll take longer.  I am of course seeing some incredible results these first weeks on the plan, a few members have lost 9 or 10lb in their first week, some have lost up to that in their first two weeks.  We're all different and you can only go on your own success.

I know I'm not following it 100% so I'm not going to be seeing results of 2lb a week, I'm hoping for 1/2lb a week, I'm being realistic, plus it was my birthday this week so I'll be lucky to get anything, especially as I've almost drowned in the bottle of Bailey's my brother bought me.

The thing to remember is the time will pass anyway and as long as you aren't gaining week in, week out, you're succeeding!  Whether it takes you 12 weeks, 12 months or 12 years to achieve your goals as long as you're living a healthier and happier life, learning how to control situations and circumstances you normally wouldn't be able to cope with, then you're succeeding every day of the week!

Every time you resist that extra biscuit because you know you don't really need it and you've already had one, you've been successful.  Every time you drive past MacDonald's and go home and make a Weight Watcher ready meal instead because you're too tired to cook but you want to stay on track - you've succeeded.  Every time you decide to be the driver on a night out because you've realised you can have a fab night out without a drink and celebrate on the scales because of that decision - then you are a success!

Yes, every decision you make, every situation you cope with that proves you're changing your habits towards a healthy, happier life means you've been successful and that one day in the future, you will achieve that goal weight, get your certificate and your gold card and become a Weight Watchers gold member.

It's your journey, no one else's and it'll take as long as it takes.

Of course there needs to be realism there too, everyone is at a different stage in their life and we all have different circumstances, so for example a young lady with no family, no stress, no issues is possibly going to find losing weight a little easier than someone with the world on her shoulders, who's taking care of 4 kids, 2 parents and her husband's just lost his job!  Go easy on yourself, accept your situation and then work on doing what you can when you can to get where you want to be.

Yes you can do it.

No it isn't impossible.

Yes it may be difficult.

No it isn't impossible.

Yes you are strong and you can be determined to stay focused.

No it won't be easy every week.

Yes you can do it!

See, it's all how you think - choose your thoughts - choose your path.

Here's to a fantastic week, if you're having a tough week for whatever reason, here's to a realistic week and to never giving up!

It takes as long as it takes BeYOUtiful and you'll stick with it because you're worth it, your health and happiness matters. xx
